Raúl Asencio (23) has been battling a stomach virus for several days that has caused him to lose six kilos in just two weeks.
According to Saturday’s report from El Partidazo on COPE radio, the Real Madrid defender from the Canary Islands, who is expected to leave this summer despite being under contract until 2031, is currently in the hospital.
Reports say the center back is undergoing medical tests in an attempt to identify the virus behind the gastroenteritis.
He is considered a definite absentee for Real Madrid’s match against Alavés on Tuesday at the Santiago Bernabéu, scheduled for 9:30 p.m. local time.
He is also a serious doubt for the following league fixture, when Los Blancos face Real Betis.
