J. J. Spaun se ha proclamado campeón del US Open 2025 de golf tras un final apoteósico en Oakmont. De esta manera, inscribe su nombre entre los campeones del torneo. Es el primer 'major' para él y, por lo tanto, el mayor éxito de su carrera.
El título de Spaun supone el tercer éxito consecutivo de Estados Unidos en el torneo, tras dar continuidad a los títulos de Wyndham Clark en 2023 y de Bryson DeChambeau en 2024. Se acrecienta así el dominio estadounidense, puesto en entredicho después de las victorias de Jon Rahm en 2021 y de Matthew Fitzpatrick en 2022.
Spaun se ha coronado en Oakmont, uno de los campos míticos del torneo. El último en lograrlo allí había sido un grande de los últimos tiempos como Dustin Johnson, quien ganó en 2016. Lo hizo con un -4, un resultado reducido hasta el -1 por Spaun este domingo en un día de agonía final para prácticamente todo el mundo que estaba sobre el campo. No para él: para Spaun el desenlace ha sido más que feliz.
